Samoëns

Samoëns is a picturesque town that just happens to be attached to 265km of piste. Located just an hour from Geneva makes access to Samoëns quick and easy, yet Samoëns has all the charm of somewhere more remote.

Chalet Kiwi is located close to the centre of Samoëns meaning you can walk to the ski bus, tourist office and local bars and restaurants. It gives you all the benefits of a chalet in the centre of town, but is set back off the road with a garden and south facing terrace giving you privacy and quiet that other central chalets often lack.

The centre of Samoëns is pedestrianised making it the perfect place for an afternoon potter. It is full of little apres-ski bars and restaurants serving local cuisine. There are plenty of boutique shops selling local cheese, charcuterie and delicious pastries and a large super market just outside Samoëns. There is a market selling local product every Wednesday in the square just round the corner from our chalet. In the Summer there are often concerts in the main square. There is also a recently built ice-rink perfect for entertaining children (and adults) after skiing, this also holds ice-hockey games and sometimes concerts. Samoëns has a handful of trendy interior shops selling vintage prints, animal hyde rugs and stools and of course Alpine pretty pottery and fondu sets.

Samoëns is part of the Grand Massif which is made up of five resorts – Flaine, Samoëns, Morillion, Les Carrow and Sixt. The Grand Massif has an exceptional snow record partly as 80 per cent of the slopes are north facing meaning the snow holds well – don’t worry there are still plenty of sunny restaurants to enjoy lunch in!
